Home Depot worker fired for wearing ‘under God’ button

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Keezer says for 19 months, ever since he started working as a cashier at The Home Depot in Okeechobee, he’s worn a button with an American flag on it that reads: “One nation under God, indivisible.”

Keezer sees the quotation, taken from the pledge of allegiance, as his way of supporting American troops at war, and of expressing his Christian faith.

In December, his older brother Army Spc. Steven Keezer Jr., is scheduled to deploy to Iraq for his second tour of duty.

For more than a year, Keezer says none of his managers mentioned the button on his Home Depot apron, except one supervisor who commented she liked it.

“She actually wanted to wear it,” Keezer said.

Then, last month, when he started bringing his Bible to work, Keezer says his manager confronted him about the button.

“That’s when I was told it had to come off, or I would be sent home. So they sent me home for six straight days without pay. And then today they terminated me,” he said.

Cross-Like T-Shirt Design at Penn State University Sparks Controversy

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Penn State says it has received six complaints about the shirt, including one from the Anti-Defamation League’s Philadelphia branch, from people who say it connotes a Christian cross. The logo design also has become the focus of controversy in the student newspaper, “The Daily Collegian,” which has received several letters to the editor on both sides of the issue.

Michal Berns, a junior majoring in media law and policy, said she refused to buy the $15 shirt because of its religious connotations.

“At first glance, you don’t necessarily think that’s what it looks like, but when you look at it more, it does look like a cross,” Berns told Foxnews.com. “That’s the reason I didn’t purchase it.”

Ouija board summons demons at amusement park?

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Thorpe Park in Surrey has now called in Rev Lionel Fanthorpe, the UK’s leading authority on the unexplained, who is currently examining the ride for evidence of paranormal activity.

He says if he finds any signs of spirits “crossing over from the other side” he will carry out an exorcism.

Rev Fanthorpe said: “Many people believe that the Ouija board is just a game but its power should never be underestimated as it may be a very dangerous tool if not used properly.

“It opens a gateway to another dimension and when people who are not experienced spiritualists play with Ouija boards, mischievous entities can get through as may have happened here.

Paving the way for Antichrist

White House science czar John Holdren has called for the United States to surrender sovereignty to a “Planetary Regime” armed with sufficient military power to enforce population limits on nations as a means of preventing a wide range of perceived dangers from global eco-disasters involving Earth’s natural resources, climate, atmosphere and oceans.

A Christian Response to Vampire Obsession

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

By Hannah Goodwyn

CBN.com Producer

CBN.comThe Twilight Saga is unquestionably the biggest media phenomenon – especially among young women – this decade. Just mention the name Edward to any teenage girl and she will immediately think of the 104-year-old teenage vampire from best-selling author Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight books. They will know what you mean when you ask, “Are you on Team Edward or Team Jacob?” They may even have bought tickets to the second Twilight installment, New Moon, which doesn’t release until Nov. 20.

This international craze warrants parents’ attention. In fact, we should all understand the force behind the resurgence of vampires in pop culture. Twilight isn’t merely the first novel in a four-book tale by Meyer; it was the catalyst for new vampire TV shows, movies, and Christian novels. That’s right, Christian vampire literature. Before we get into how widespread this fetish with these mythical creatures has reached, let’s take a look at what started it all.

Where have you been?!

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Sorry for the long hiatus from the blog.  I have been pouring my attention into the Hearken the Watchmen project and conducting research for my book.  Unfortunately the blogging will probably remain light for the next few weeks until I can settle into a routine so bear with me.

In the meantime, check out this article about the opening of an “occult center” in the U.K.  This stuff in permeating our culture folks and it will only get worse.

Fears occult centre will target students

CHURCH leaders fear an occult centre due to open on Christmas Eve will target Cambridge University students.

Magus Lynius Shadee, self-named King of All Witches, has announced he will open in the city centre by December 24.

He already runs similar organisations in France and has sparked fears that his centre will target the vulnerable.

It is expected to dabble in manifestations of the dead, paranormal experiences, black magic, séances and occult books.

Based in Normandy, France, the “magician” claims to be able to prove that the afterlife exists by bringing back the dead.
